A new roof for a tomb house

The German Foreign Office supports the restauration at Tuna el-Gebel

Thanks to the support of the German Foreign Office we were able to remove the roof of one the tomb houses restored by Sami Gabra in the 1930ies because it was almost collapsing. Mohamed Fattouh Sayed and Hisham Elsheikh, restorers from the Egyptian Museum Cairo, worked together with the German restorer Heike Pfund to secure the wall paintings before the architectural intervention. The reconstruction of the new roof was planned and realized by Katharina Westphalen and Egyptian carpenters.
